New Harmony Christian Academy has many advantages over public schools, all of which make our classes academically advanced. Because of our small class sizes, we get one on one time with each child, learning about his/her own particular needs, thus allowing us to advance them in their strong areas and give them special attention in their problem areas in order to help them advance there. Also, we pay very close attention to our students’ behavior and make sure they are becoming responsible for their own actions, to include completing and turning in assignments on time. We believe our choice of curriculum excels as well.
We have a faith based curriculum that is built upon what we believe to be the best of the best; A Beka and ACSI. Our Bible programs employs ACSI. Our Science program uses ACSI and a great deal of class projects, experiments, and research papers. For our Language Arts program we have custom picked a combination of A Beka and ACSI in order to adequately teach and capture the attention of the students. We use A Beka for Grammar and Reading, and ACSI for Spelling and Literature (grades 5 and up). For Math we employ ACSI. We encourage and reward hard work, in a fun atmosphere. We use diverse lesson plans and activities in order to accommodate all types of learners. At the end of each school year, students take the Stanford Achievement test in order to keep track of their progress.
